Unmasking the Ego: 8 Telltale Signs Your Ego Is Holding You Back

Our inner critic, the ego, loves whispering negativity. But we don't have to listen! Identifying its language is the first step to silencing it.

THE EGO SEE US AS SEPARATION.

It craves for ‘MORE’.

It’s always in DEFENSIVE MODE.

It demands for ATTACHMENT.

Its love is POSSESSION.

It wants us to become something while we are already ENOUGH.

Understanding the roots of the ego to liberate you from ‘the need for more’ and being separated from Life. Getting to know about the ego comes with the spirit of this saying ‘He who sees through life and death will meet most success’.

Just as we study our competitors to excel, knowing the ego allows us to transcend it. But hate and battle only strengthen its grip. Rather, I am reminded by the teaching of Jesus ‘Love your enemy’. The ego used to be my enemy, coming from a way of hatred and disregard, but hating the ego or trying to win over it only creates more separation.

The ego is not my enemy, it is my shadow, born with me into this human form. I cannot ignore or hate it, but rather embrace it as a companion, a mirror reflecting the parts of myself that yearn for light.

The ego is not my enemy, and even if it were, I choose love. For only love can heal the separation, mend the broken self, and guide us towards wholeness.

"I see you," I tell the ego, "and I acknowledge you. Together, let us dance. Let us improvise, not to conquer, but to become, each day, a brighter version of ourselves."

Our inner critic, the ego, loves whispering negativity. But we don't have to listen! Identifying its language is the first step to silencing it. Here are 8 telltale signs your ego is holding you back:

  1. ‘I am not good enough.’
  2. ‘I know I should but…’
  3. ‘I will start when I have enough money or after achieving [...]’
  4. ‘You are wrong and I am right.’
  5. ‘You are not me. You don’t understand me.’
  6. ‘Why me?’
  7. ‘I don’t believe in love. I don’t believe in people.’
  8. ‘There is no hope.’

Do not let these talks limit the greatness of yourself and stop you from manifesting the abundance from the universe..

When you catch yourself having these kinds of talk, try reframing. You can take a look at these examples below:

  • Self-Deprecation"I'm not good enough." This deflates your confidence and prevents you from taking risks. Reframe it: "I'm learning and growing every day, and that's enough."
  • Procrastination: "I know I should do it, but..." This excuse stalls progress and blocks your path to abundance. Reframe it: "Just 5 minutes on this task now makes progress, and I'll celebrate every step."
  • Comparative Competition: "You're wrong and I'm right." This shuts down learning and isolates you from valuable connections. Reframe it: "I'm open to hearing different perspectives. Together, we can find the best solution."
